How to change Save Format

The g_save_format setting determines how your save files are stored. Format 0 is plain text (larger files, human-readable), while format 2 is compressed binary (smaller files, not human-readable).

If you have this error using the Dispatcher or the error is about the Floating Point Exception or other issues with the Dispatcher, like jobs not found after reloading the save:

you should change the Save Format to 0 to 2 or 3.

Method A: From the Console

  1. Enable the developer console (see this How to enable the Developer Console in ETS2 or ATS)
  2. Launch the game and open the console with ~
  3. Type one of these commands:
g_save_format 2
  1. The change takes effect immediately for new saves

Method B: From config.cfg

  • Close the game
  • Open the File Explorer in %userprofile%\documents\Euro Truck Simulator 2 or %userprofile%\documents\American Truck Simulator
  • Locate the file config.cfg

  • Open it with a double click or right click > Open with

 

  • Search for “g_save_format

 

  • Change g_save_format “0” to “2”

 

 

  • Save
  • Open the game
  • Load the profile
  • Create a new save or quick save
  • Open the Dispatcher
  • You should open the profile now and save edit it
